That's just a patient test, and you obviously passed the test. smiling smiley

I didn't notice that it took a long time to merge using default configuration. It took ~2.5 minutes when I tested the large video merging, but I have non-default configuration, I set 512MB as max heap (I have 8GB RAM). When I tested using default configuration (160MB as max heap), it took ~10 minutes. So you may want to increase max heap to decrease the merging time, depends on how much your RAM is. How to increase java max heap :
- edit frd.bat.
- replace -Xmx192m with -Xmx384m if you want to set max heap to 384MB, or with -Xmx512m if you want to set max heap to 512MB, etc.
- save the changes.
- run FRD by executing frd.bat.

When I tested merging the files using ffmpeg/avconv, it took ~1.5 minutes.

I'm not sure if it is possible in current FRD version.
@Vity: do you have any comment/advice regarding this matter?

Hi, sorry to bump an old thread, but my questions seems to fit here.

I love the way I can download youtube at 1080p and it merges the files together to one mp4 file.

However, I cannot seem to be able to download 2160p video, i always get only 1440p even though the video on youtube is available in 2160p

Can you please fix the plugin?

Oh, my apologies, I forgot that you like us to post sample links -

see this video, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-GYrbecb88

Above 1080p, it has also 1440p and 2160p. And I'd like to download the higher version, not just 1440p smiling smiley

Thanks,
major.

Thank you tong2shot,
it seems to be working perfectly.

Although I have to say that it's a shame that youtube limits the speed to 10 Mbps sad smiley

Do we aim to support every itag? I've found a few unsupported ones, including 271, 272, 278, 308 and 315. Links:

The Wikipedia page for YT contains a few more.

Currently, no. It's not hard to add support for downloading VP9 video and vorbis audio separately. But our multiplexer doesn't support webm (VP9 + vorbis), currently it only supports mp4 (h264 + aac).

For most cases our plugin works fine. The high frame rate (HFR) video is complicated, though. Google is trying really hard to push their VP9. At this moment 1440p and 2160p HFR only available in webm (VP9 + vorbis) format. So for this case our plugin will not download the HFR ones.

I think that 4K at 60p is too advanced for most users, and it's not necessary to try to make a plugin for it. It wouldn't play from a USB stick on an HDTV anyway (as they usually only support AVC MP4 formats).

But being able to download 1080p at 30/50/60p and 4K at 30p is just fine for me (and for most of us I guess). smiling smiley
