Hi,

I added all your links to FRD in my XP sp3 in VM but I couldn't reproduce the issue. I also tried to change Look and Feel several times, but still couldn't reproduce the issue.

Instead of deleting whole FRD configuration folder, you can just :
- close FRD.
- backup frd.odb.
- delete frd.odb.

I found these links which filenames contain non-ASCII character sequences :

If this is font bug, then probably these links are the culprit.

Hi tong2shot,

GREAT! You have done.
Thanks Much.

The below given link's 'File Names' that I was using in Frd, contained 'Malayalam Fonts'.

But the problem making links are the last 2,
[www.youtube.com]
(Top 3s are not problem makers)

Will you please tell me, how can I use those problem links,
by changing Ul Settings and without any problems to Frd as before?

In Ul Settings > Appearance, I am using Look &Feel: Aero
and I have ticked,
*Show toolbar buttons with text
*Represent download service----- &
*Bring application to the top when-----

@ Vity & Ntoskrnl,
Please look in to this.

Crash reproduced. Actually, my whole JVM crashes when I add one of those links and it checks the file name!

edit: The JVM crash only occurs on Java 8. On Java 7 I get the same error as you do.

I will investigate this and report it to Oracle if necessary.

I can reproduce this issue in Ubuntu 12.04 and XP SP3, if there is not enough space for 'Name' column.

Solution :
- backup frd.odb.
- delete frd.odb.
- start FRD.
- adjust 'Name' column width, give it more space.
- exit FRD.
- delete frd.odb.
- restore your original frd.odb (from step #1).

I updated to the latest build of Java 8 (b115) and it doesn't crash anymore. Seems like the bug is fixed there.

I also like to test Java 8 (b115), but Java.com is recommending
Version 7 Update 45 in their home page.
Further, my Java is not poping-up with new update message.

In Google search, I found that Java.net is offering Java 8 (b115).
Is it safe to install in a P3 computer?

Java 8 is not released yet; the current versions are developer previews. However, if you'd like to try it (and it should work just fine), you can download it here: [jdk8.java.net]

It shouldn't be any heavier than Java 7.

When I downloaded it to my P3, I got the message,
"Java 8 Requires a Newer Version of Windows. You may continue--- "

Insatalled it. NO PROBLEM.

But the wonder is, the Problem Links,
[www.youtube.com] &
are Working FINE.

Thanks Much to ntoskrnl.

I just did some testing, and it seems that this bug is fixed in Java 7 too, at least as far back as Update 25. (I got bored of testing after that, though in hindsight, a binary search might have been a better idea.)

Lesson learned: always use the latest version...

edit: Wait, OP says he was using u45? confused smiley

edit2: I tried those two links in FRD in both Windows 7 and Windows XP with Java 7u45 and they worked fine. With Java 7u7 they fail, but that's old.

hi guys! I'd rather post here than creating a new thread just on my own, since the root of the problem seems to be the same : constant daily crashes with fatal error message most of the time. It began to happen a few months back and at that time i had updated java, had installed the latest version of FRD 09u3 and changed the skin to substance-challenger deep.
These crashes happen a bit whenever but mostly when a captcha window is left idle to long (at 1st it freezes and then crashes or i have to force the app to quit since it's dead stuck up, and especially with rapidgator(piece of crap that one if u ask me)). I had gotten used to it but it happens more and more frequently and with free accounts you have to wait hours between each attempts and restart the download from the beginning most of the time. Bummer!
I join the log file, thanks buddies if u can sort this out and thks anyway for the app!!!
