i hope freerapid will use less RAM in the next version

i hope freerapid will use less RAM in the next version.
i always used freerapid & not @#$%&. because freerapid used less RAM.
but now i noticed that freerapid uses A LOT of RAM.
it uses about 150-170Mb of RAM. thats a lot.

Nobody cares about RAM consumption in 2011. 4GB chips costs 30 bucks.
Use another look and feel to reduce RAM consumption.

It's using 70MB of RAM for me at the moment. How many links do you have in the list?

The competing program uses 400-600MB, so I think 50-200MB is quite good.

i have 300 links in the list
i have 2GB RAM
and as i said i always prefered freerapid because it used less ram
but now with the new versions i see that it take more then the competing programs

We didn't add anything that would increase memory usage per se, but we might have changed a JVM parameter called max heap size. That is the maximum amount of RAM allocated to java objects. We did this to improve performance for users with lots of links.

You can change it to a smaller number if you so wish, but in the worst case it may slow down FRD or even crash it. Launch FRD using the following command, where the number after "-Xmx" is the amount of RAM you wish to allocate:

javaw -Xmx160m -jar frd.jar

On a side note, our competitors use a maximum heap size of 512MB.

the file that start FRD is frd.exe
so how to write it? like this?
frd.exe javaw -Xmx160m -jar frd.jar

frd.exe is just a launcher so Windows users can simply double-click it. You need to run javaw.exe, which is found in the "bin" folder in your Java installation directory.
