Downloading of HTTP/FTP files
January 16, 2010 04:52PM
Hi.

I'd be really happy if FreeRapid had the capability to download normal HTTP/FTP files. I use FRD as my download manager (as most files I download are form all sortsof sharing servers) but sometimes I need to download normal file. That's when I really miss this function.
Anyway, shouldn' be that hard to implement right?

well, hope you'll give it some thought.....

how to implement this? I'm interested.

I delevoped a megaupload update, I do not asking how access to code.

I'm asking how to implement the download manager proposal, since FRD parses basing on link and then downloads the file.

if no plugin matches the file, FRD can ask if you want to download as regular file

I still don't understand what the need for such a feature is, because there are so many other, better alternatives available. FRD is only for non-direct sites like RapidShare.

It's strange that FRD can't download simple[direct] files[not from sharing services].
I don't ask for downloading in several stream and like that things:
- just add 'download' regular files from regular[http/ftp] protocols, it's a basic functionality base module for downloading from sharing services.
thanks.

My guess is that many people don't like to have several downloader programs running but just one.

I support the request to implement a basic generic http(s)/ftp download feature, because I'd like the downloading stuff in one place. Perhaps the deeper reason for not implementing this is the creeping featuritis which would turn FreeRapid into a generic downloader and attract unwanted attention.

Still, just a basic http/ftp download support with resume capability and no multiple connections for one download would be neat.

I made a quick plugin to download files directly.

Put it in the plugins folder and restart FRD.

FTP is not supported by FRD, so you'll have to live without that feature.

Please note that we do not support this plugin at all and there are some glitches.

Nt: the plugin used for downloading is the first one which matches the url . So this one if it will be read before eg. RS plugin will be used for downloading -> downloading will fail.

I know. That's a major glitch. One of the reasons why it's not recommended for use.
