After Updation to Latest Java, FRD always give pop-up "Fatal error"

I am using Frd 0.9u3 in my P3, 730 MHz, 384 MB Ram system with Win XP2 installed.

I was using FRD in an easy way until I installed latest Java 7 (45) after uninstalling the old one.
Now when I open Frd, a pop-up appears telling,

Fatal error.
This is unexpected error, which can lead to application instability.

Please report this error to the authors.

When I try to close it, a new one appears there and I am unable to close it.
The downloading in Frd is still continuing, but when clicking
on the Frd icon in Task Bar, the pop-up only appears, not Frd window.

I uninstalled and reinstalled latest Java 2 times, but it doesn't help.

You should probably reinstall the JRE again. Remove all old JAVA files in your program files directory.

You could try an older version of Java to see if it's some kind of a compatibility issue (with XP SP2?): [www.oracle.com]

Thanks Much for both replies.

After getting answer from VITY, I removed all old Java and downloaded latest Java & FRD again,
but again the pop-up appears.
[I tried with Java 7 (40) also, but no success]

Now I am going to try more old Java versions.

Now I tried with Java 6 (45) after uninstalling other Java versions from my computer.
But the same pop-up window now also appears.
(I have scanned my system with MalwareByte's Anti-Malware Pro & AVG Free)

If there is no other way, I am going to Re-Install Win XP2
(Because I LOVE FRD Very Much) and look for the problem is cured or not.

Solved it.........


I was going to Uninstall my WinXP for a NEW Re-Install.
Then I saw the post Freerapid freezes randomly . [wordrider.net]

I deleted the file 'VitySoft' from C:\Documents and Settings\Madhu Kumar\Application Data

Now ALL ARE OK..............

But a Doubt...

The Notepad in the Frd named "links" contained 2585 links (Urls).

I don't know how this happens.
I had only about 20 links in my Frd for current download.
I had selected to 'Remove Downloaded Immediately', in Frd Options.
I had selected to 'Delete History', in Frd Options.

Then WHY this happens?

links.txt contains all links that has been added. It's for backup or historical purpose. It's separated from FRD database (frd.odb). Operations that you described only affects frd.odb, not links.txt.

WOW! SORRY!!

The problem is not solved.


For 2 Days, all were OK.

Now again, the old Pop-up appears.

Now a notable thing is that a file "frd.odb$" is apperaing in the
Application Data\VitySoft\FRD for which the size is increasing by time
and disappears when the software is closed.


Can anyone give me a remedy?

I think it's font related issue, it's triggered when there are certain character sequences in swing component.

This bug maybe related : [bugs.sun.com]

Have you tried to change Look and Feel ? It's in UI Settings option.

Could you provide sample link(s) that triggered such issue ?

Thanks for your reply.

I am attaching 'links' file from Application Data\VitySoft\FRD.
Among those links, many files are already downloaded and some are still in use.
I was using Frd for last 3 or more years, but I never met an occasion like this.

The 'app' file (Error file) from Application Data\VitySoft\FRD\log is also attached.

I am not able to get 'UI Settings' in Frd.
