No, it was returning the correct installed JDK, in this case 1.7 and after 1.8

No, it's returning 1.8 but always the same error message.

Did you use .dmg installation version or a ZIP file?

Try to download the ZIP version, extract it into any folder and run it with the following command: 
java -jar frd.jar
