FreeRapid 1.0 beta for early adopters
September 18, 2017 04:33PM
Hello,
after a minor pause winking smiley we are working on the next version of FRD. It brings many improvements and bug fixes include a support of upcoming Java 9. Also a startup time has been tuned and improved.
We hope we collected all main problems you have with using FRD and changed it.

Please let us know about problems you find in comparison with previous version (0.9u4). Thank you.

Here is a full list of changes:
Changed : Support for Java 9
Changed : Many improvements for easier plugins coding
Changed : Load history items from database only/max once per session
Changed : Year is included in main table and history table tooltip as default
Changed : Update ObjectDB to version 2.7.1
Changed : Update Jackson to version 2.8.9
  Added : Editable URLs (optional)
Added : Check new items against download history (optional)
Added : Internal option 'fontSize' to be able increase font size on screen with high resolutions
Added : Upgraded JTattoo library to the latest version LaF + support for Texture Look and Feel
  Added : Toolbar editor
  Added : Proxy per plugin
Added : Connection settings per download item
Added : Plugin settings per download item
Added : Plugin settings is available on popup/context menu
Added : Queueing download item next to some download item
Added : Total downloads, file count in History dialog
Added : Multi word filters in History dialog
Added : Max concurrent downloads and plugin's max download on overlay panel/popup
Added : Explicitly save file to history list (for decrypter)
Added : Support to create child directories for container
Added : Preferences option to view completed % in progress bar column
  Fixed : Download file renaming
Fixed : Parentheses () are valid chars in URL path
Fixed : Redirection for POST request
Fixed : Download history table sort for file size and avg speed
Fixed : Search on demand functionality and the flickering
Fixed : Crypto restrictions removal for Java7 and Java8

  Behavioral changes:
  *Remove completed downloads*
  - In previous version: remove completed downloads (At startup or Immediately) only hides the completed downloads.
So if the option is changed to "Never", the previous completed downloads will be shown again.
  - Current version: remove completed downloads (At startup or Immediately) actually removes the completed downloads.
So if the option is changed to "Never", the previous completed downloads will not be shown,
only the current and the future completed downloads are shown.
All completed downloads still can be accessed via "Download History" window.
Reason: the previous version's implementation sometimes produced inconsistence download item's list ordering.

*Use temporary .part files while downloading*
  - creating .part files is disabled by default

For the last few times I have used the Beta version the download stops and I am asked if I want to overwrite, skip or cancel the download. This is a new one for me. I've been using the beta version for a few months now and so far it is great. Any ideas?

Please fix or make option in the main form load event.
The main form opens (when prev closed maximized), as maximized "full screen." This covers over the task bar.
Last version opened with task bar showing underneath.
Clicking minimize or opening as minimized resets it so the next maximized click shows as normal (task bar underneath) until you restart app. Then it opens full screen again.
The problem is: when adding the first link it opens the add link dialog with no way to minimize the prog without adding that link even with the "bring app to top is not checked." Also that initial link dialog opening has been a problem on the past one too.
Otherwise all else working well. The new toolbar customize feature is nice.
Thanks

@Xcoder: honestly , I don't understand you. I have no problems with that. Screenshots/videos might help.

From what I understand.. he is saying FRD does not opened in a maximized state.. even when it was maximized last time before closing FRD.
I mean it hovers above taskbar and hides it.

I'm yet to try this beta. But I also have similar issue since eternity. I did talk to tong too but he said it works just fine for him thus cannot replicate it.
So I have to manually maximize each time I run it.

Looks like the maximize -> close -> open - problem is related with selected LookAndFeel. Try to use another one - eg. Substance.

My problem has stopped now. Maybe it was just one of those things but whatever it was it is no more. FRD is great. What more can I say..

Vity, yup that was it. I was using nimbus for a long time but the progress colors being similar led me to delete unfinished or waiting items by accident. I went to graphite which is perfect except for that lil issue i mentioned. Going with your recommended now an all is well.
You should move this build on to the main stable downloads page.
Thank you for everything.
