Garbled GUI on maximize

I am not sure if you tried it, but try to upgrade to the latest graphics drivers as well.

hmmmm... interestingly enough, I believe that WAS the problem.
I allowed windows update to install GFX drivers.

I tried the nvidia website with automatic and it told me that the manf "required" me to get the drivers from there website.

back to drivers from 2007. works. lame.

edit:
ok, maybe not.
seems it got rid of one problem and caused another.

opening preferences completely "blacks out" the FRD GUI (just the titlebar visible).
open closing, only the downloaded files show up (repaints I guess)

btw, no screenshot available as the screenshot shows up fine (gfx problem obviously)

Im gunna reboot and see if it clears up.

ya that fixed it up. sucks that this laptop is stuck with drivers go on 3 years old. that's HP for ya I guess.

You can also try this:
Run FRD this way from command line

java -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -jar frd.jar

or with this one:

java -Dsun.java2d.opengl=true -jar frd.jar

or with this one:

java -Dsun.java2d.d3d=false -jar frd.jar

cmd ENTER
cd frd_directory ENTER
java -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -jar frd.jar ENTER

old drivers were still having problems (add url dialog blacked out the GUI)

went back to the 2009 windows update drivers.
used those options and d3d and directdraw work the same (slight delay when maximizing but everything else seems fine).
opengl was really fuct. it was like using a flashlight (stuff only appeared after mousing over and disappear after leaving).

btw, I just set up a shortcut. also swapped to javaw.exe (unless you want me to post the prolly harmless errors)

C:\Windows\System32\javaw.exe -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -jar "C:\Program Files\FreeRapid\frd.jar"

thanks for the help. guess this is fixed for now until HP/NVIDIA or JAVA fixes the problem (w/e it is).
