It's mention in this post, I don't use mac, but I guess deleting the FreeRapid-0.9u4.app doesn't matter anyway.

You still need to download FreeRapid-0.9u4.zip (All Platforms) version.

Java 9 release schedule is on September 21th. But I will not fix your problem, unfortunately.

As mentioned in several posts in this topic, to fix your problem you need to delete FreeRapid-0.9u4.app from the applications folder and download FreeRapid-0.9u4.zip (All Platforms) version, do not use/download the DMG one.

The download URL (mirror 1) for all platforms version is taken from [wordrider.net] .

You are not using Java 8, you are using Java 6. Waiting for a new version of Java 8 won't help unfortunately.

You need to run frd.jar with latest JRE 8 from the terminal or change the default java on your Mac;
though a bit technical, please read and experiment... ;-)

It may be necessary to install full JDK8 rather than simply JRE8...

To rule out the premium RG plugin is at fault, you might want to try it in a friend's/relative's computer, preferably running a supported Windows OS version (or, lacking that, a current Linux distro) and latest JRE 8u131; or, as instructed, PM one of the devs your premium RG credentials and culprit RG link...

You said in your initial post that it used to work in the recent past; the consensus by the devs here is that RG moved to more secure HTTPS algorithms, that your system supplied JRE 6 is not able to handle anymore...

And JFYI, a new updated version of JRE 8 is just days away...

UPDATE:
When i switch over to the 1.1.14 plugin, and DON'T use my premium account, it works.
It's ONLY when I use the 1.1.8 and use my premium account do the errors happen!

4. We expect you're on latest FRD and latest rapidgator.net_premium plugin (1.1.8)
5. Provide specific link you're having trouble with - does the same link work with the free rapidgator plugin (1.1.14) ?
6. Since your issue concerns a premium plugin, you may have to trust one of the devs
with your login credentials, if you want your issue fixed (see here).

There is information in app.log in debug mode which states which JRE is used to run FRD.

@eagle8: can you attach app.log in debug mode. To run FRD in debug mode see point #5 of "Troubleshooting" section of this page.

We only need relevant information like this one for example:

I just tested Rapidgator premium with Java 8u131 and it works fine for me. It chooses an ECDHE cipher suite so it doesn't matter that it doesn't support 4096-bit DHE. Even Java 7 supports ECDHE and should work. This, and the error message you're getting, suggests to me that you're running Java 6 for some reason.

Okay, it seems that even Java 8 does not support 4096-bit DHE. Java 9 will fix this issue, but it it not released yet. [bugs.openjdk.java.net]

However, Java 8 should support up to 2048-bit DHE and the error message should indicate that. Are you absolutely sure you don't have other older versions of Java installed? Otherwise it might choose the wrong version.

RapidGator does support 128-bit ciphers so it should work even without the unlimited policy files. [www.ssllabs.com]

Are you on Java 6 by any chance?

Are you on Mac (which might use the Apple Java 6 even if you have Oracle Java 8 installed)?

Could you post the log file?
