Is youtube plugin still working?

Having trouble playing newly downloaded flv files from youtube, mediaplayer classic says "cannot render the file" and a hex dump of the files header looks complete garbage at least compared to flv files I downloaded some month ago, and these plays without any problems, also flv files from other sites than youtube seems to work fine.

Yes it is still working. I downloaded and played the video from your sample URL and it works just fine.

Several days ago I got an error message when I tried to resume youtube video. I forgot to look at app.log at that time. But it never happen again. Maybe that's just temporary. Do you still get corrupted video files ?

I just updated to the new youtube plugin 1.10.2 but I'm still getting corrupted files.

Although setting the preferred quality in the plugin at 360P (or lower) does seem to work, but with 480P (or higher) the file is corrupted like above, and this effect seems to be the same on other youtube videos if they are available in higher than 360P resolution.

I downloaded the latest plugins today. I then tried to download some videos from Youtube and none worked. They show in the list as Error - Read Timed Out. I have attached the app.log.

Let me know if there is anything that I can try.

I found unrelated problem with youtube plugin, sometimes it throws "Cannot find specified video format (x)" error message or "Status code je 500". I already have an answer for this problem.

Could you provide app.log in debug mode ?

To enable debug mode :
- Close FRD.
- Open "startup.properties", remove "#" character in front of "--debug". Save the file.
- Restart FRD.

I think it's connection problem, not plugin problem. Are you using proxy in FRD ? Can you open the youtube videos via browser ?

I just tried it again and still getting the same thing with one small exception. One .flv file showed "Downloading" and the file size but it is showing 0% complete and not moving. After a little while, it changed to "Error - Read Timeout" the same as the rest. All of the others show "unknown" for the size.

I've been using it for quite a long time and never had a problem before. Probably haven't used it for a month or so. As far as I know, nothing (relevant) has changed since the last time that I used it. Not using a proxy. I don't have any other problem with internet or youtube access. I can open youtube and play the songs that I'm trying to download with no problem.

It's a known issue if you are using Java 7 (JRE7), and from the log you are using JRE7. A known solution is uninstall JRE7 and install JRE6 instead.

Youtube plugin v1.10.3 fix "Cannot find specified video format (x)" error message, it will retry to download the video instead.

Dev note :
Plugin will retry to download the video because it caught HTTP error code : 500, because (I think) the video/download URL doesn't have signature param.

Thanks for the info. I don't want to go back to JRE6 so I guess I'll have to use a different program for downloading until this is resolved.

The problem is that everything works fine for us even with Java 7. We can't reproduce any of the issues, so we don't know at all what's going wrong.
