Youtube (on the '4od' channel)
December 09, 2012 06:14AM
* FRD version – 0.9u1
* youtube.com - 1.11.1

Downloading from Channel 4's youtube channel '4OD' used to work until very recently.
Now every time the download completes instantly and shows 'COMPLETED' with 'completion' 0% and size 0 B, so nothing has been downloaded.
An example of a program that used to work, but doesn't any more is: HERE
Is it possible to fix this?
Best wishes!!!

note: Channel 4's, 4OD Youtube Channel only works in the UK, so I use a VPN to access it when outside the UK, but it always used to download programs ok.

The videos on the 4oD YouTube channel are a bit special, as they use a protocol called RTMP. We do usually support this protocol, but YouTube uses a special "type 10", which has not been reverse engineered yet. Unfortunately it's not possible to download those videos yet.

Thank you for answering my query.
That's a big shame. Hopefully it won't be long before type 10 can be reverse engineered; do you forsee that's a possibility?
Best wishes!!

Yes, it's just a matter of time. Somebody who is knowledgeable enough just needs to take the effort, just like with earlier versions. Unfortunately it's already been a year with little progress.

I don't know if this will help you with this problem, but I can now download C4 programmes from their Youtube channel using TubeDigger.
I hope that helps you.
Their site is: http://www.tubedigger.com/
Very best wishes!!!

It probably loads the Flash Player DLL. I've seen that before with other programs. Unfortunately that won't work for FreeRapid.
