Problems downloading off 4od
October 10, 2013 09:37PM
Hi all,

I was wondering if there was a solution to the problem of downloading off 4od. When I paste the URL into the box and click start, I get an error which says: ERROR - No string between " and " was found.

Is there a way around this? I am using a PC running Windows 7.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, 4od changed their streaming system some time ago. They use "Adobe HDS with FlashAccess DRM" which is not supported at the moment.

interesting, it looks differently for me - when I add a 4od link, I can see the name and size of the file, then after a while there is a message 'this link is currently not supported by the plugin'.
any ideas? any plans to support that?
I can see similar problems/suggestions reported at this forum many months back...

The plugin is a piece of cake to fix once the DRM scheme is reverse engineered. Unfortunately, reverse engineers aren't really interested in these sorts of things.

I wonder why it feels like I was just told to bugger off... politely? ))
Am I right in assuming that those links probably won't be supported in the nearest decade or so? Am I reading this correctly?

Flash will probably be dead within 10 years, and then all this will be pointless. smiling smiley Whether FlashAccess will be reverse engineered while it's still relevant is an open question.
