December 01, 2014 07:09PM
have one smegging program that FRD just can't seem to get... been trying for several days and keeps getting the 'File is ot available in your country' error (I am in US). Do have the Tor plugin activated, does work fine with everyother file (eventually) but this one is being a pain.. could they have something different here?

scratch that, of course 5 minutes after I post that, after having not worked for 4 days, it picks up on the next attempt.... nothing to see here, move along....

BBC has blacklisted most Tor exit nodes, so it might need quite a bit of trial and error. smiling smiley

I'm sure you are already aware of,
but here are some tips to follow
(from my post :bbc.frp from overseas tips)

1) Always update to the latest version of the plugin (currently 1.2.6).
2) In the bbc.co.uk plugin options, you must check the "Enable Tor" box.
3) If you aim at TV content, in the "Preferred CDN" field you must
choose "Limelight" for <=480p resolution & Level 3 for 720p resolution.
Akamai CDNs DO NOT WORK with Tor plugin or UK HTTP proxy.
4) The BBC have for some months now BLACKLISTED the UK IP
ranges provided by the Tor plugin; it is now a hit or miss situation.
You are most probable to get the "Not available in your area" message
when you first try the fetch.
Through trial & error I have found that:
After you get the "Not available in your area" message, CANCEL
(but do not delete) the download, wait a few seconds, then click the
RESUME button - if you again fail to initiate a download, repeat the
same routine 2 or 3 more times - usually it works max on the 4th attempt.
If still no go, you are better off configuring FRD to use a UK http proxy.

One additional thing to try from time to time is:

Locate FRD's "config" folder - I am running FRD with the -p switch
(semi-portable installation), so this resides inside my FRD folder;
usually, the "config" folder should be in this location:
%appdata%\Vitysoft\FRD

With FRD exited, DELETE folder "tor-gb", especially when it's grown in size.
Next time you run FRD with a plugin that makes use of the Tor plugin,
this folder will be recreated anew, hopefully with newer UK Tor exit nodes...
