The BBC has changed the way it does radio programmes. It now uses the "BBC Sounds" app and has a corresponding section of its website.
The URLS look like this:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p081zxmr
If I try to download them, I only get a small GZIP file containing the HTML page.
I have found a workaround.
Some of the podcasts are the same as a radio programme, and the URLs for these work fine - they give an FLV file containing the audio.
An example URL for BBC radio looks like this:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p081zxmr
The 8 character ID code on the end is the same as for the podcast.
I have found that changing
/sounds/play/ to
/programmes/ will also allow podcasts to be downloaded, even if they are not radio programmes.
I do not know if this will continue to work, as the BBC is moving more of its audio content to podcasts only.
Can downloading from the "sounds" pages be implemented?
