Youtube plugin does not download "low FLV"
September 05, 2009 02:28PM
I am using Freerapid 0.82 and youtube plugin 0.6.5 and plays FLV in Wimpy (tried also FFDShow and Mplayerc).

For example, check this [www.youtube.com]... downloaded FLVs are not playable but, based on the size of resulting file compared to download via keepvid.com, I see that freerapid plugin tries to download standard quality FLV (640x480) no matter what I selected in plugin options and resulting FLV is not playable because, this video obviously does not work in 640x480 at youtube (the same 640x480FLV downloaded from keepvid.com also doesn't work fine)!

So, the problem is in options - how can I force plugin to download what I setup? Because Low (FLV) should work every time but plugin keeps trying to download standard FLV format even if it is set to "low"...

And one more problem - if you try to select and copy this text, freerapid automatically finds youtube URL in it and tries to add it to list but crashes with error

Try to use 0.83 beta3 to figure out both problems.

Just downloaded and unpacked beta 3. I tried the same URL I post here and I see that freerapid again start to download filesize of 65MB which is 640x480FLV file - and plugin settings are set to "low" and it should download 22MB 320x240FLV ! :(

Looks like the problem is present in beta 3 also... :(

About crashing - that is fixed - beta 3 correctly read youtube link from copied post! :)

P.S.
No need to wait FLV to be downloaded because it will be unplayable (because the same 640x480 FLV downloaded from keepvid.com is also nonplayable) because this vide only exists in low FLV format and main problem of plugin is constant forcing of standard FLV :(

I am playing the video fine with SMPlayer...

Just downloaded and tried SMPlayer... Yes - it works! This solved problem with playing problematic FLVs but this still does not solved problem with plugin settings and download settings... :(

Hi arminio,
Thank you for reporting. This was really bug. Youtube plugin downloaded format "35" instead of format "5" because some Regexp matching went wrong. Now it is fixed. Update your Youtube plugin to version 0.6.6
