Avira AntiVir Premium 2012 blocks FreeRapid
December 26, 2012 07:31PM
I have a problem using FreeRapid and Avira AntiVir Premium 2012
on the same Windows 7 machine.

The Windows 7 installation is not modified and no other antivir
or firewall software is used.

The Windows 7 firewall is active but not modified.

If I start FreeRapid with active Avira AntiVir Premium 2012, I am
not able to check within FreeRapid for a new version or new plugins.
Additionally it is not possible to start any downloads in the downloads
list.

If I disable the Realtime-Scanner AND the WebGuard before starting
FreeRapid, everything is OK (new version check, downloads working).

I do not know why and how Avira AntiVir Premium Edition 2012
blocks FreeRapid. I thought only the Avira Internet Security Edition
has an additional firewall that is able to block internet connections.

If any user is able to explain the behaviour of this antivir program
and how to configure it that it works with FreeRapid correctly it
would be a great help for me.

Thanks!

You should probably ask on the Avira support forum, we know nothing about Avira.

Thanks for your reply.

Maybe you know the mechanism why/how just FreeRapid access to
the internet is blocked.

There is no other tool I have an incompatibility issue with Avira AntiVir Premium 2012.

There must be a specific reason.

There is nothing special or non-standard for Java application.

Not very useful.

I started a support request at Avira. I hope they know
what is going on with their tool.

I will keep you informed.

Just go to the "Internet Security" then "Web Protection" and then uncheck the support of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).
