Display glitches after installing Java 64 bits
January 21, 2013 08:04PM
Hi, I am stucked with a constant glitch that makes the display of the program unreadable.
When I move the mouse through the window, everything gets messed up.
Seems like if the program is running two different ways in the same instance...

If I go in the Options with Ctrl+F10, the display gets better but I can't move the window anymore.
Resizing the window withe the bottom right angle also "works".

This happened after I uninstalled Java 32 bits and install the 64 bits version.
I installed the 32 bits again aftert that but it didn't change.

Here is a screenshot of the glitched display :

I would be glad giving you more details about it.

(Win7 64 bits, everything up to date)

Edit : I think I just pointed on something : in the Options, the only option that doesn't want to save its changes is "Allow only one instance". (It's always disabled)

How many links you have in the queue?
I recommend you to try these things:

1) Try to use another look and feel.
or
2) try to add this line (on some new line):
-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true
into file startup.properties, which is located in FRD's root folder (+restart FRD)

Thank you for the answer!

I have 9 links in queue, 7 completed.

Adding the line with NotePad++ didn't change anything, I also tried with a # at the beginning. (Yes, that was dumb... ^^)
Changing themes doesn't do it, however, disabling the decorated frames improves the things with the "CDE/Motif" (3rd) theme.
But even with that, windows often get all black, like captcha popups or settings window...

I was wondering if the settings were saved in a text file I could edit, and set in read only, to test if forcing the "allow only one instance" could fix all this...

Edit :
• I tried to disable Eset Smart Security (never caused a problem in 5 years of usage with FRD)
• I tried to restore my computer

Edit #2 :

Ok, I have the same problem with an other Java application, so it's not your fault...

Anyway, thanks for this soft!!

(I don't know why it is so unknown...)

LAST edit :

I did it! The problem was because I installed Java in an other partition than C: and it couldn't handle it, I uninstalled everything labelled Java, and install it like a good sheep with the default installer through default folders, and it now works fine! :)

Thank you for caring about it, I wish it was useful to you as well... Good bye!

Well, the same issue occured again, with Java 64 bits and / or 32 bits installed in the default folder...
I don't know what's from that...

Odd. Try uninstalling all Java versions again and reinstall.
