Anyway to disable all of the sounds?
November 08, 2009 06:32PM
I'll start off with a thank you for creating freerapid which I really like and use a lot.

Unfortunately, after upgrading to the new version I'm stuck with "File added" sounds and stuff. They are driving me nuts and I can't stand them. I've searched the preferences and can't for the life of me figure out how to disable them. I had the old version set up so that the only time a sound was heard was when there was an error. Please tell me how I can get rid of these sounds.

Thanks, and great work on the project!

What system do you use?
Uncomment -DblindMode=false in startup.properties.

I'm using Linux. Thank you very much Vity, that worked like a charm! The sounds weren't bad, they just kind of interrupted and caught me off guard a few times.

Thanks again,

Have a good one~

And which distribution?
The new sounds are enabled automatically, because special user accessibility for blind people is detected.
(yes, FRD is also used by blind people)

Couldn't find it under any of the below folders:-
/usr/bin
/usr/share/FreeRapid
/usr/share/applications
/usr/share/pixmaps
/usr/share/FreeRapid/plugins
/usr/share/java/FreeRapid
/usr/share/doc/packages/FreeRapid
/usr/share/java/FreeRapid/lib
/usr/share/java/FreeRapid/lookandfeel
/home/UserName/.FRD

Should i simply create a file and put it into one of these directories adn add "-DblindMode=false" to this file and restart the application ?

It may help, but you are using some unsupported Linux distribution.
The original and supported is available in download section.

No. It's unofficial.
