freerapid need a new java on linux and I have the latest java installed

I am using ubuntu 8.10 and I have installed the lastest java on the ubuntu repos but I still have this message: (This application cannot be started with JRE 1.6.0_0 on Linux. This JRE version is buggy therefore FRD wouldn't work properly. Upgrade to newer version. Exiting)

and I have downloaded the lasted java from the official site but the same message appear,
DO any body how to fix this?
I am using this program on windows and its so great but I want it on linux too :(

Run it under newer version. That's the fix.
Uninstall the version 1.6.0.

So what happens when you write java -version ?
It won't work till it writes 1.6.0_0.

I didnt understand srry

Go to console and write java -version (or java --version, i am not sure).

when I write java -version I have this:
java -version
java version "1.6.0_0"
IcedTea6 1.3.1 (6b12-0ubuntu6.1) Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_0-b12)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0_0-b12, mixed mode)

=> So you have to uninstall it...
1.6.0_0 is 2 years old version.

Its the latest version on the ubuntu repositories
