thanks nameless1 ... - now i know i am not totally crazy smiling smiley

7_5 back to 6_33 ... - fixes the problem then .. good to know..

But what to do to accomodate for this new 7_5 (or "7 series") .. - maybe Author can think of something to accomodate for this at some future point.
Hope so.....

This is extremely odd -- you're not the only two who have experienced problems with Java 7. What makes the situation really strange is that FRD works perfectly fine for us with Java 7.

As I wrote before, the JRE installer/updater is simply broken. Use following steps to fix it.
1. Close FRD and your web browser(s)
2. Uninstall all JRE or JDK installed on your systems. Make sure that Java directory in Program files directory is empty.
You can also uninstall any crappy antivirus like ESET S*** Security.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Download full offline installation of JRE (the latest version, 7 if you like) from Oracle pages (http://java.com/download)
5. Make sure you can download your files in the browser. Use stable file fast servers, not the overloaded ones.
6. Run FRD. Make sure you are using the latest plugin versions.
7. Don't use proxies.
8. Happy downloading.

Thanks, was pulling my hair out and your steps helped me resolve the problem.

On my 64bit Win7 system, after uninstalling all my java installs, I also deleted both the Program Files\Java and the Program Files (x86)\Java directories then rebooted. After installing the jre-7u9-windows-x64.exe, all was working again. I also installed the 32bit jre-7u9-windows-i586.exe and all was still working.
