Thank for the new beta! Error report attached. I installed in a new directory and copied over my frd.xml file. To run frd I sudoed a terminal window and started a sh script (attached) in it. I guess one could classify either as a bug or as a request for improvement, this happens on windows 0.86u1 download the same file (must have the same name) from two different services service A completes the download successfully; the file is in your download folder including file.txt description service B is still downloading, you can see file.*.part in the download folder now cancel downlby ra - FreeRapid Downloader - General
After upgrading from 0.85u1 to 0.86u1 on Windows I've started seeing many downloads with SKIPPED status. I had never seen that status before. The SKIPPED downloads correspond to different URLs of same filenames over different services from the same download entry. This is an updated version of my previous batch script, which was listed in . The version here fixes all known bugs and quirks. I tested it with FRD 0.85alpha2 on Win 2003 Server only, I think it should work on XP and later just fine. It should also work with FRD 0.83u1 (check line 45, "goto OK", if you run FRD 0.83u1). I like Omni too, how about OmniDown ? A humorous name is "Veni Vidi Vity" (from Cesar's Veni Vidi Vici). It could lead to Vcubed or V3, without revealing its origin in veni vidi vity. How about "The One Million Grabber"? referring to its user base size, and also suggesting $ 1M edit: along the same vein: One Billion Grabber, One Trillion Grabber, etc. ntoskrnl made two valid points: suby ra - FreeRapid Downloader - General
It doesn't have to be named "something" downloader. Although FRD is a downloader, the word "downloader" sounds rather uncool and geeky, I think. So just leave that word out. If you do, a whole new array of possibilities opens up. For instance, you could use any catchy, single-word - even made-up word - name out of your imagination. Thanks Vity and ntoskernel for this new alpha 2. It looks much improved over 83u1. The main aero ui feels definitely faster on my vintage Win 2003 server with 448MB RAM. However selecting entries in the history window is very slow (unfiltered list of 236 entries total). Is there anything I can do to improve it? FRD seems to have an issue when it's set to save description to .txt file and it downloads a .txt file; then the description file overwrites the downloaded file (they go by the same name) and the actual downloaded file is lost. Would it be possible for FRD to watch for this case and rename the description file to avoid overwriting the downloaded file? It would be a huge benefit if FRD could automatically skip downloading files that have already been downloaded, or are being downloaded, in the queue by testing if a file by the same name already exists in the queue. This feature optimizes downloads with multiple mirrors, and multiple file parts. Usually all parts go by the same filenames on all mirrors, and you can only download one part at thby ra - FreeRapid Downloader - Features
I tested it. Now downloaded files are renamed correctly, and description files are created along them. But I did not see significant changes regarding the download locations. I also need to report two general errors. Thank you very much, Vity! I should be able to test this new version during the weekend. Just to make sure I understand what's in your mind, do you mean that my script will work if I change just the launch line this way (I'm merely adding -DexePath to the launch line)? start "" "%JAVAHOME%\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%jarpath%" -DexePath="%CD%\..\..\" --portable %* frd.jar is located in foldby ra - FreeRapid Downloader - General
I upgraded to plugin 0.7 and FRD 0.83 but when I download from ifile.it the download list shows this error message, ERROR - No string between '"status":" and "" was found. Hi, I tested without -Duser.home and entering a relative folder path. Again FRD did not rename the downloaded file, nor did it create a txt file for comments (corresponding option enabled). As download folder I simply entered R (as in Relative). Since R did not exist, FRD asked for permission to create it, which I OKed. This way we know FRD's starting idea of folder R's location. Yes, I have enough disk space. Here is app.log The folder path exists, checked. Is it correct that it starts with file:/C instead of file://C ... Keep in mind that the destination folder path was entered in FRD as C:\downloads, not as shown. The longer path file://C... below is the result of the portable script. FRD 0.82 handled that path without issues. FRD 0.83 does not. Once downloadedby ra - FreeRapid Downloader - General

Hello, thanks for FreeRapid! I want to share a script that makes FreeRapid work with PortableJava, and report two issues I found with version 0.83. The batch script allows you to run FreeRapid using portableapps.com's portable Java, so FRD becomes fully portable even on computers where Java isn't normally installed.
